Five years after a clandestine encounter under a lunar eclipse, former chambermaid Ruth struggles as an impoverished mother caring for her half-vampire toddler. Facing astronomical medical expenses to treat the boy's severe light sensitivity, she accepts employment at an ominous gothic estate, only to discover the master of the castle is Arthur, the vampire monarch who fathered her boy. Resentful over her sudden disappearance, Arthur treats her with chilly disdain, yet Ruth endures his harsh temperament solely to save her child. Tension escalates when a grasping relative betrays the vulnerable boy to a fanatical anti-vampire faction, forcing both parents to confront hidden truths and defend their fractured family.
