Pushed off a rocky cliff by her husband to divert rogue attackers, the pregnant mate died in the wilderness while he dismissed her kidnapping as drama.

Days away from delivering their child, Mara is wounded by her mate and cast into the wilderness to serve as bait for feral rogues threatening another woman. When frantic messages demand a ransom for her return, her stubborn husband dismisses the threat as an elaborate bid for attention.

Left without protection, Mara and her unborn pup perish in the snowy woods while her oblivious husband orders patrols to ignore her. Only when an unidentified body arrives at the morgue does an invisible presence stand beside him, watching his cold world unravel.
