Branded a disgraced tavern derelict who failed to shield his late wife from assassins, Valen lives among squalor, enduring mockery from royal knights and haughty townsfolk. None suspect that behind his alcohol-fueled haze lies the supreme arcane master known simply as the Shadow. When Valen unearths undeniable evidence proving his ambitious brother engineered his wife's assassination to claim family power, his drunken facade vanishes. Activating forbidden dark enchantments that blot out the sky, the awakened wizard crushes rampaging monster hordes, forcing the kingdom's corrupt elite to confront divine dark sorcery.
