After spending seven dedicated years with an unobservant partner, a patient woman realizes she has always ranked second in his priorities. While he overlooks her dramatic personal changes, he instantly notices every minor detail concerning his female friend, even lending the woman his coat and attention. Sitting abandoned in an emergency room while he attends to his companion, the heartbroken woman removes her engagement ring and destroys her phone card. She boards a plane to build a quiet sanctuary in a distant town, monitoring his frantic realization through home security cameras. When he finally reads her journals of quiet heartache and begs for another chance, she ignores his hollow regret.
