The Year in His Chains

Blinded by infatuation after a whirlwind courtship, an earnest young woman proposes marriage to a charming suitor, unaware he consented solely to lay claim to her substantial dowry. Once wed, her dream of romantic bliss dissolves into domestic nightmare as her demanding mother-in-law treats her like an unpaid servant.
The predatory husband squanders hundreds of thousands of dollars on underground gambling, stealing personal jewelry and subjecting his pregnant wife to severe physical abuse. When his cruelty endangers her maternal family, the shattered bride resolves to shatter the toxic marriage.
